Earthing and Lightning

Lightning Protection

Lightning is one of the natural phenomena on earth formed by electrostatic discharges through the atmosphere between opposite charges of the thunderstorm cloud or between opposite charges in the cloud and on the ground. The air’s insulating capacity breaks down when enough opposite charges build up, causing a rapid discharge of electricity. Lightning protection systems intercept lightning strikes, provide a conductive path for the harmful electrical discharge to follow, and disperse the energy safely into the ground.
